Downtime Brass

Downtime Brass is comprised of St. Louis’ most creative and versatile brass musicians with over 15 years of professional experience. The group is available for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hour music, private parties, and holiday events. The group's extensive repertoire includes music from the Baroque and Classical eras to the more modern sounds of Jazz and Pop.

From regal fanfares and triumphant processionals to quiet interludes and joyous recessionals, the Downtime Brass Quintet will add sophistication and ambiance to your wedding ceremony or any other event.

Musical Director: Jason Harris (Trumpet/Piccolo Trumpet/Flugelhorn)

downtime band brassJason Harris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and a Master of the Arts in Music from Webster University. Mr. Harris is an active musician with over 15 years of professional experience. He has performed with Opera Theatre St. Louis, St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, Bob Kuban Brass, Route 66, Gateway Brass Quintet, Washington University Symphony, The Gateway Festival Orchestra, The Compton Heights Concert Band, and the Latin Solution Orchestra to name a few. Currently, Jason is a member of the Union Avenue Opera Orchestra, Webster Symphony Orchestra, the Clarion Brass Quintet and Downtime Band. He also performs regularly with the Steve Schankman Orchestra. Over the last decade, he has sounded ‘Taps’ at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for over 10,000 military funerals. For many years, Mr. Harris was a featured soloist with the St. Louis Brass Band. Jason previously taught at McKinley Middle School in St. Louis were he developed an award winning band program and is now the Instrumental Music Director for the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District. Many of his former students have gone on to win auditions and participate in the Missouri All-State Concert Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band, as well as the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

A typical wedding ceremony would consist of prelude music starting 20-30 minutes prior to the ceremony, processionals for grandparents/parents, bridesmaids, bride and recessional music. Music for any ceremony can be customized to meet the clients need.

Accommodations can be made for outdoor weddings, including a PA system if needed.
